Hinge calculator

Enter the door dimensions and material, and the calculator works out the recommended number of hinges, their spacing from the top edge, and an estimated door weight. Width alone doesn't add hinges — it feeds into weight (width × height × thickness × material density): a heavier door gets an extra hinge so none of them is overloaded. This is a general woodworking rule of thumb, not a substitute for the hinge manufacturer's own data.
